My Loi B bridge construction

On 2 August 2015, the Build-A-Bridge project (Kien tao nhip cau)  found by Nam Phuong Foundation officially brought joy to people in poor rural areas in the province of Tien Giang via the commencement of construction of My Loi B bridge in My Loi B commune, Cai Be district, Tien Giang province. This is the Foundation’s 6th bridge in Southwest region, and is the 5th bridge to be built in this locality.

 

The old wooden ferry-boat – the only vehicle of people in My Loi B commune

My Loi B commune area is an area facing with many difficulties in Tien Giang province and economic activity is mainly dependent on agricultural activities. Every day, 500-600 arrivals of people trading and selling across the Co Co (Stork Neck) river. . However, the biggest obstacle for the locals is there is no bridge here, so people have to use wooden ferry as the only means of transportation. This is not only time-, effort- and money-consuming but also always puts the residents of My Loi B commune in an afraid and anxious mood which make them day and night look forward to a steady, vast bridge for convenient transportation, from thus enhancing the quality of life.

After conducting research, surveying geographical position, considering alltechnical obstacle, Nam Phuong Foundation  proposed to build My Loi B bridge. The project was designed as 60-meter cable-stayed bridge with total calculated funding of almost 1.5 billion dong, including 70% of the amount to be contributed by Masan Group Corporation and Nam Phuong Foundation. When completed, My Loi B bridge will act as a transport connection of the two communes Tan Hung and An Thai Trung; as well as the national roads between QL30 (National Road 30) district, and QL1 (National Road 1) district, thereby stimulating economic and local infrastructure. Not only that, with the advent of My Loi B bridge, the road to school of students here will become safer and more convenient in the next school year

Nam Phuong Foundation give gifts to needy, fine students

Up to this point, the Build-A-Bridge project  of Nam Phuong Foundation have completed 4 welfare bridges, which are: Loi Trinh bridge, Mot Thuoc bridge, Sinh Chanh 1 bridge, Sinh Chanh 2 bridge – Tien Giang province. The 5th Bridge – Tan Hau bridge has been started on 13 June 2015 in Ben Tre province and is expected to be completed by September 2015. Carrying the mission of connecting the two shores, My Loi B bridge is expected to follow the mission of creating positive changes for the socio-economic development of Cai Be district in particular and Tien Giang province in general.
