In Vietnam, heartbreaking stories about drowning or water related accidents happen too often. People and children of these undeveloped area has to use rotten bridges, and they too are afraid of falling into the river, therefore the Reality Program ‘Build-A-Bridge’ accompanied the project under the same with the hope of bringing the good message and values to the community. We hope that more and more bridge will be built to serve people across our motherland.

Up to the present time, project “Build-A-Bridge” has completed 3 bridges located at Hau My Trinh and An Thai Trung Commune , Cai Be Ward,  Tien Giang Province, namely Mot Thuoc, Sinh Chanh 1 and Sinh Chanh 2. During the inauguration ceremony of these bridges, people and local authorities were very excited, as they never had bridges with such quality before. Traffic has always been a daily life issue and everyone struggle with it since birth, restrict people from accessing medical and educational services. It is hard to imagine that whenever problem occurs, hundreds or thousands of people use old boat and bridges made of  creaking planks. It is not only adult who often fall into the water, but also children. On their way to school they have to leave their bikes behind, then take a boat to the other side. Local authorities are yet to build bridges to ensure the safety of people, but funding and technical barriers is causing great difficulty. There are certain region that the land structure is complex, and normal reinforce bridges are extremely difficult to construct.

Before NPF came to any decision, NPF spent time to research and analyze the geographical location, along with other technical and financial quotes to ensure the best possible quality. The completion of Mot Thuoc, Sinh Chanh 1 and Sinh Chanh 2 has transformed the life of people in the region, stimulated the economy. Especially, children will not be afraid of going to school anymore. From the old to the young, everyone is proud of the bridges. However, the happiest is definitely the locals. Mrs Nguyen Thi Buoc (58) shared with us: “In the past, people used a creaking, wooden bridge only 1 meter wide. It is quite dangerous and two motorbikes cannot cross the bridge at the same time.” She also let us know that not long ago there was a merchant crossing the bridge, who unfortunately fell into the channel, both the merchant and her cart full of fruits. When asked about the new bridge, she smiled “I have been here my whole life, but this is the first time ever that we have nice, big bridge, right at my door. Merchants  from other areas who pass by are also very excited!“.

During the inauguration ceremony of Sinh Chanh Bridge, Mr. Nguyen Van Nguyen, president of An Thai Trung Commune is pleased to receive support from NPF as well as Kinh Do Corp. He said in the past, people of An Thai Trung used temporary, wooden bridges for years, which restricted the flows of goods. “With the new bridge, students will not drop class during rainy season again“.

A big contribution to the marketing of the project comes from many volunteer ambassadors: singer Phuong Vy, Trung Dung, Quoc Thien, Le Hieu, Miss Hoang Oanh and other dancers of “So You Think You Can Dance”. Singer Trung Dung let us know that by becoming an ambassador of NPF, he helps spread the good words, which makes him feel happy. People’s lives are now significantly improved. He also hope that more bridges will be built to serve people. Moreover, he as well as other volunteers also put aside their shows to work under the sweltering sun, bringing their enthusiasm to every corner of  the land. As small changes  will serve as a jump start for even bigger transformation, the image of such solid bridges is a promise for a better future.
